Vietnam's qualification marks their third consecutive appearance in the Asian Cup finals. This early advancement was secured after they were awarded a victory over Malaysia in Group F of the final qualifying round.

Before march 17, Vietnam was second in Group F with 12 points, three points behind Malaysia. Following a 0-4 defeat in the first leg on 10/6/2025, Vietnam had needed a five-goal victory to claim the top spot. A four-goal difference would have led to a penalty shootout to determine the ranking.
