Each team will consist of 12 official players and 4 reserves, all high-level amateur golfers with a handicap index below 10.0. The championship will be held at NovaWorld Phan Thiet Golf Club, a course designed by world golf legend Greg Norman. This venue, which meets Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA of America) standards, is part of a large-scale resort and sports complex in Lam Dong.
The VITGC 2026 will utilize a match play format across three categories: fourball, foursome, and singles matches. The competition emphasizes teamwork and meticulous strategic preparation, particularly in pairing players to leverage individual strengths or compensate for each other's expertise.
In fourball, two team members each play their own ball, and the best score achieved by either member on each hole counts as the team's score. Foursome involves two team members sharing one ball, taking alternate shots until the ball is holed. If one member tees off on an odd-numbered hole, the other will tee off on an even-numbered hole.
The pair with the better score wins the hole and gains a 1-up advantage. A match concludes when the number of holes won (up) exceeds the number of holes remaining, with results shown by the number of holes up followed by the number of holes remaining, such as 4&3 or 3&2.
Each match victory earns one point, while a tie results in 0.5 points. After two days of competition, comprising a total of 24 matches, the team with the highest score will be crowned the VITGC 2026 champion.
