Vietnam U22 trains intensely ahead of SEA Games 33

On the afternoon of 26/11, coach Kim Sang-sik put the players through high-intensity technical and tactical drills, aiming for peak performance at the tournament in Thailand in early December.

The U22 players before their third training session at Ba Ria stadium.

The team currently has 25 players. Nguyen Dinh Bac, Pham Ly Duc, and Pham Minh Phuc will join the squad on 28/11, after competing with their club, Cong an Ha Noi, against Bac Kinh Quoc An in the AFC Champion League Two 2025-2026.

Midfielder Nguyen Phi Hoang sustained an eyelid injury during a fitness session at the hotel, but he is still training normally with his teammates.

After warming up, the players quickly moved into high-intensity technical and tactical exercises.

In addition to practicing coordination, coach Kim also divided the players into two teams for practice matches, evaluating individual performance and testing tactical options.

The training session was relaxed, filled with laughter.

Previously, the players received news that Group B matches would not be held in Songkhla province due to flooding, but would be relocated to Bangkok or Chonburi.

Before the session, forward Nguyen Thanh Nhan said, "Everyone must try their best so the coach can select the top players. We will strive to train and compete to our full potential."

Thanh Nhan also acknowledged strong opponents like Indonesia and Thailand, but stated that Vietnam's biggest opponent is themselves. "We will strive to overcome ourselves to achieve the ultimate goal", he said, hoping fans will support the team at SEA Games 33.

Defender Dinh Quang Kiet is working to integrate with his senior teammates in his first national team call-up. At 18 years old, he is the youngest player, yet also the tallest (1,95 m) and heaviest (84 kg).

The three goalkeepers, Tran Trung Kien, Cao Van Binh, and Nguyen Tan, trained with goalkeeper coach Lee Won-jae, a legend of Korean football.

Among them, Trung Kien, standing at 1,91 m, brings extensive experience from playing in the V-League, the national team, and the U22 squad. He is likely to be the starting goalkeeper.

On 1/12, coach Kim will finalize the 23-player squad traveling to Thailand. In Group B, Vietnam will face Laos on 4/12 and Malaysia on 11/12.
