This year's registration list includes many high-achieving runners, national team athletes, and former national team members. The event also features 100 athletes participating through experience bibs, alongside those who met the stringent entry performance standards.
Organizers state the 1,500-athlete cap is notably lower than other mass races in the series, due to the All-Star's strict selection process. This limited field ensures top professional quality and an open racing environment, allowing runners to focus on achieving personal bests. The male and female champions of the 42 km race will each receive a 100 million dong prize, the highest in Vietnam.

Following the registration deadline, organizers will initiate the final logistical preparations for the 8/2 race day. Key tasks include producing merchandise, finalizing medical and security arrangements, and confirming traffic management plans for Hoa Lac High-Tech Park in Hanoi.
Professionally, races will utilize staggered starts, or waves, determined by registered athlete performance. This method aims to reduce starting line congestion and enable runners to find their pace quickly. The support team, comprising referees, volunteers, and pacers, has completed its selection, based on discipline and experience criteria.
The race features a dedicated course in Hoa Lac. The 42 km distance comprises two loops, known for its long straight sections, minimal sharp turns, and flat asphalt surface. The running community often calls it "the temple of speed" for Vietnamese marathons.
The VnExpress Marathon All-Star 2026 is scheduled for 8/2. Qualification requires male athletes to complete 42 km in under 4 hours or 21 km in under 2 hours. Female athletes must finish a full marathon in under 5 hours or a half marathon in under 2 hours 30 minutes.
