Moving slowly into Guangxi (China) since early this morning, by noon typhoon Maysak maintained category 8 strength, continuing to bring rain to many northern provinces of Vietnam.
As passenger ferries halted operations due to typhoon Maysak, the owner of Dong A hotel decided to slaughter a pig and prepare a meal for nearly 50 tourists stranded on the island.
A typhoon of level 8-9 is forecast to directly affect the coastal areas of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong from noon to this afternoon; its circulation will bring very heavy rain to the Northeast region, with some areas receiving over 500 mm.
