Pham Dinh Tam, owner of Dong A hotel on Co To island, demonstrated remarkable hospitality by slaughtering a pig and preparing a communal meal for nearly 50 tourists stranded due to typhoon Maysak. His initiative aimed to support guests whose holidays were disrupted by the severe weather, providing a comforting gesture amidst the unexpected delay.
Co To Special Zone authorities reported that 2,845 tourists, including 14 foreigners, were on the island when the typhoon struck. All visitors are currently safe in their accommodations. The local government had coordinated with transport operators on 3/7, arranging 18 ferry trips to safely evacuate 3,147 passengers to the mainland as typhoon Maysak approached the East Sea.

In addition to the hotel's gesture, the People's Committee of Co To Special Zone issued directives to ensure the well-being of all stranded visitors. Accommodation providers and restaurants on the island were instructed not to raise service prices, to proactively prepare essential goods, and to maintain attentive service to meet tourist needs.
On the afternoon of 4/7, the typhoon brought strong winds, approximately level 7 with gusts up to level 9, and waves reaching 2,25 meters in the Co To sea area before moving towards Mong Cai. By 22:00 that day, the island still experienced strong winds and rough seas. The People's Committee urged residents and tourists to limit unnecessary outdoor activities, avoid coastal areas, ports, and breakwaters, and strictly adhere to safety guidelines issued by authorities.
