Trek Trendy, a British blogger specializing in luxury travel reviews, showcased an exclusive underwater room at The Muraka, a super villa within the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort.
This unique room is situated 5 m below the surface of the Indian Ocean, enclosed by a transparent acrylic dome. It offers a stunning 180-degree panoramic view of the vibrant coral reef.
The impressive structure, weighing 600 tons, had a total construction cost of USD 15 million. It was meticulously crafted in Singapore before being carefully submerged into its ocean home.
The blogger described hearing a sound similar to chewing cereal upon entering the room, attributing it to the acrylic glass expanding and contracting under the immense water pressure.
"This place is like a giant aquarium", the traveler stated. For safety, the room is equipped with a hidden hook stick near the wall, designed to open an emergency escape hatch to the surface in critical situations.
Although the room features curtains for privacy, Trek Trendy found them unnecessary, noting that "only vibrant schools of fish are looking at you". He expressed delight at being able to observe the clear blue water even from the bathroom.
At night, the deep-sea environment transforms into an enchanting spectacle. A system of color-changing accent lights turns the bedroom into a "natural cinema". The traveler paid USD 18,000 for one night's stay, with the total bill nearing USD 20,000, including transportation and dinner costs.
Despite the high price, the British blogger affirmed that the experience of sleeping completely surrounded by the ocean was a truly worthwhile privilege.
