The underwater lion dance, a captivating spectacle at a Hanoi aquarium, drew significant crowds. Visitors flocked to the viewing area on 25/9, with most describing the performance as interesting and a unique highlight for the Mid-Autumn Festival season.

The 15-minute performance featured familiar characters such as the Teu character, the lion, and mermaids. Organizers stated that the show aimed to leverage the aquatic environment, creating movements that differ from traditional lion dances.

Performing underwater presented unique challenges for the artists. Water resistance made swift, powerful movements more difficult compared to land-based performances. Furthermore, the performers had to ensure their actions did not disturb the fish inhabiting the tank. To adapt to these conditions, artists underwent extensive training to master underwater movement, maintain balance, and skillfully control the lion head.

Despite the captivating nature of the performance, some audience members found the slower movements, a direct result of water resistance, "quite amusing".

The underwater lion dance ran from 19/9 to 27/9, with two daily shows at 10:30 and 15:00. In addition to this unique display, the aquarium organized other Mid-Autumn Festival activities, including a mermaid show, traditional lion dances, a lantern parade featuring capybaras and penguins, and a do paper Mid-Autumn lantern workshop.
