Discovering old Hong Kong by boat
For those seeking a quieter experience away from the crowds, a journey to the floating museum at Aberdeen Harbour offers a unique perspective. Visitors board a teak boat to explore the fishing village and learn about the lives of the fishing community, a tradition spanning centuries.
On the traditional houseboats at the Houseboat Museum, visitors can directly observe the living spaces, small cooking fires, and ancestral altars of the local people. Every detail and object has been meticulously preserved, offering a glimpse into Hong Kong's origins and its connection to the sea and traditional crafts.
The 60-minute Aberdeen 1773 boat tour offers scenic views of the harbor. Combining the boat tour with a visit to the Houseboat Museum offers a 10% discount on tickets, which includes local snacks and beverages.
A miniature Hong Kong exhibition
Along with the floating museum at Aberdeen Harbour, the "Miniature Art - 100 Steps Around Hong Kong" exhibition is another must-see for culture enthusiasts. The exhibition provides a modern perspective on urban living, showcasing 20 handcrafted models combined with advanced technology, recreating iconic Hong Kong landmarks such as Victoria Harbour, Man Mo Temple, and the Peak Tram.
