Thousands had gathered around Van Lang Park lake since early evening, fostering a lively atmosphere ahead of the main commemorative events.
As crowds flocked to watch the fireworks, roads surrounding the lake, including Nguyen Tat Thanh, Tran Phu, and Hai Ba Trung, became packed with people and vehicles. This influx led to localized congestion, which continued for about 30 minutes after the display concluded as residents dispersed.
The fireworks display is a key event within the broader festival activities, which encompass both ceremonial and festive components. The week-long celebration features numerous cultural, sports, and tourism events across Phu Tho province. Prior to the fireworks, the festival included traditional rituals such as: offering incense to commemorate the Hung Kings, commemorating National Ancestor Lac Long Quan, offering incense to Ancestral Mother Au Co, and a palanquin procession to Hung Temple.
Many residents captured the spectacular fireworks moments with their phones. It is a familiar activity for families, with many bringing young children to experience the festivities during each Hung Kings' Commemoration Day.
According to the organizing committee, Phu Tho has welcomed 4 million visitors since the beginning of the year. During peak days since early March of the lunar calendar, the province has received approximately 60,000 visitors daily. The number of people visiting Viet Tri ward and the Hung Temple historical site is expected to continue increasing sharply tomorrow morning.
The main incense offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings will take place tomorrow morning, on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, starting around 6h30. This significant event will be held at Thuong Temple on Nghia Linh Mountain, with the participation of Party and State leaders and a large number of citizens.
