On 1/6, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center announced that the 70,000 dong price will be uniformly applied to both Vietnamese and international tourists. However, children under 1.2 m will receive free admission, and there will be a 50% discount on tickets for residents of Hue and Da Nang cities, as well as policy groups.
This fee collection will be in effect until 31/12/2028, according to a resolution passed by the Hue City People's Council. The site will be open to visitors daily from 7:00 to 17:30.

The collection of admission fees at Hai Van Quan national historical site is expected to generate resources for the management, preservation, and promotion of the site's values. It also aims to enhance service quality for visitors to this landmark, renowned as "Thien Ha De Nhat Hung Quan".
One hundred percent of the ticket sales revenue from Hai Van Quan will be managed and used by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center for the restoration of historical sites.
Previously, in late 2024, the Hai Van Quan preservation, embellishment, and restoration project was completed. This project was jointly implemented by Hue City and Da Nang City starting in 2021, with a budget exceeding 42 billion dong. For the past two years, the site has been open to visitors free of charge, and it is now officially introducing an admission fee. The restoration process successfully recovered the original appearance of many important structures, including the city gates, walls, residential quarters, and stone steps.

Hai Van Quan is situated on the summit of Hai Van Pass, nearly 500 m above sea level, forming a natural boundary between Hue and Da Nang. It once served as a key military pass for the Nguyen Dynasty, commissioned by Emperor Minh Mang in 1826 atop a pre-existing defensive structure. The gate facing Hue is inscribed with the three characters "Hai Van Quan", while the side facing Da Nang bears the inscription "Thien Ha De Nhat Hung Quan".
During the 1945-1975 period, many additional military structures were built, such as watchtowers and bunkers, to defend this vital route. Notably, fortification systems with observation posts and gun emplacements were also constructed on top of both the Hai Van Quan and Thien Ha De Nhat Hung Quan gates.
After nearly two centuries, and subjected to the impact of time, war, and harsh weather conditions on the pass summit, many parts of the historical site had severely deteriorated before its recent restoration.
