After some hesitation, Trong Hoang, a resident of hanoi, purchased a flight ticket to da nang for his vacation. Although the holiday was just two days away, Hoang was surprised to spend only about 3,5 million VND for a round-trip flight. "I opted for night flights to reduce costs and have a full day for sightseeing", he shared.
On the afternoon of 27/8, a VnExpress survey on last-minute ticket prices for the september 2nd holiday revealed that costs from hanoi and ho chi minh city to popular tourist destinations did not fluctuate significantly compared to last week.
Round-trip tickets for the hanoi - da nang route during the period 29/8-1/9 were cheapest at 3,4 million VND, for unfavorable flight times (departing in the evening, returning in the early morning). More convenient flight times were priced at approximately 4,5 million VND. Similarly, the hanoi - nha trang route for the same period had a minimum price of about 3,5 million VND for unfavorable times and around 5,4 million VND for better flight times.
These prices are more affordable than those during the april 30th holiday, when the hanoi - nha trang route cost over 7 million VND, and many return flights at the end of the holiday were sold out, with only higher classes available. Currently, travelers have many options for flight times, from convenient to less convenient, for most routes from hanoi to popular tourist spots.

Similarly, from ho chi minh city, round-trip flight tickets to destinations like phu quoc and nha trang averaged about 3-3,7 million VND. However, morning flights from ho chi minh city to nha trang were sold out, requiring travelers to choose afternoon or evening flights. Meanwhile, the cheapest round-trip tickets for the ho chi minh city - da nang route were about 3 million VND. Tickets for convenient times ranged from 4-5,5 million VND, comparable to normal days.
Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) stated that booking rates on many key tourist routes as of 18/8 still showed many available seats. On the first day of the holiday, 29/8, the booking rate for ho chi minh city - phu quoc reached 48%, ho chi minh city - nha trang 42%, hanoi - da nang 55%, and hanoi - phu quoc 69%; specifically, the hanoi - ho chi minh city route was below 39%.
Bui Thanh Tu, marketing director of BestPrice, noted that last-minute flight prices for this year's september 2nd holiday are "relatively pleasant". The main reason is that airlines supplied nearly one million seats on tourist routes, an increase of about 10% compared to the same period, while demand has not surged. The holiday also falls after the summer peak season and close to the new school year, leading many families to limit long-distance travel.
Market realities show that flight prices for the september 2nd holiday are higher than normal days but less competitive than during the april 30th - may 1st holiday. With stable ticket prices and many flight time options currently available, Mr. Tu believes travelers are considering their holiday plans more carefully.
"Sales of domestic air tours for the september 2nd holiday were moderate, focusing on phu quoc, nha trang, and da nang, but there was no surge", Mr. Tu shared regarding business conditions. Road tours sold better due to their suitable costs and short itineraries, meeting the needs of family groups.
