Rescue efforts faced significant challenges due to heavy upstream water flow and strong currents. The base of the waterfall features numerous deep crevices and slippery, moss-covered rocks. The area where the tourist was swept away is near a rock cave, where powerful water cascades, severely limiting visibility. Authorities are using ropes and specialized equipment to search the rock crevices and have expanded the search area downstream.
Khau Lan waterfall is situated in a valley within Quan Ba commune, approximately 40 km from the Ha Giang city center. The area is characterized by pristine tropical forests, largely untouched by human activity. The waterfall itself is about 20 meters high and over 10 meters wide, with powerful currents that weave through large rocks along its edges before plunging into a lake. Several large tree trunks span the water.
