Many tourist destinations nationwide not overcrowded on the first day of the September 2nd holiday

Major tourist destinations across Vietnam, from north to south including Sam Son, Da Nang, and Nha Trang, did not experience overcrowding or traffic congestion on the first day of the September 2nd holiday.

In the former Ha Giang area, now part of Tuyen Quang, roads to tourist attractions were clear, the weather was pleasant, and there was no prolonged congestion as seen in previous holidays.

Manh Dien, house manager of Noi Phu House in Lo Lo Chai, stated that room occupancy on 29/8 reached 50%, with 30/8 and 31/8 fully booked. He noted that tourist numbers in the area typically increase significantly from the second day of a holiday.

Do Son beach in Hai Phong experienced heavy rain on the afternoon of 29/8, resulting in few swimmers. In Cat Ba, the weather was cool; however, ferries to the island were temporarily suspended at times due to heavy rain, and some areas in Gia Luan and Cat Ba National Park remained flooded.

Meanwhile, Quang Ninh welcomed a large number of visitors to its attractions and entertainment venues, yet did not experience overcrowding.

In Thanh Hoa, Sam Son beach was less crowded than usual. Hotels reached approximately 60% room occupancy, and service prices remained stable. Heavy rain combined with August storms was the main reason many families canceled or postponed their travel plans.

Traffic in Da Nang and Hoi An Ancient Town was much clearer compared to the 30/4 holiday. Truong Van Quy, owner of Hoi An Old Town Residence homestay, stated that visitors to the ancient town and Bay Mau coconut forest were mostly domestic tourists, and the streets remained sparse with pedestrians until late afternoon on 29/8. However, he cautioned that the situation on the first day does not accurately reflect the total number of visitors for the entire holiday.

In Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, hotels along Tran Phu coastal road reached approximately 70% occupancy. Tourists could still find rooms at guesthouses and homestays without prior booking. The central beach and attractions like Vinh Hy Bay and the entertainment area on Hon Tre island were not overly crowded.

Vung Tau and Phan Thiet, Lam Dong, were preferred choices for southern tourists due to their convenient proximity. In Phan Thiet, visitor activity began picking up in Mui Ne and Hon Rom, with room occupancy reaching 70-80%. Many tourists booked last minute rather than planning early, so these numbers could increase. Attractions such as Bau Trang, the sand dunes, Mui Ne fishing village, and Suoi Tien continued to draw visitors, though the number of people on 29/8 was only about 50% compared to the summer peak.

In Vung Tau, room occupancy in the Bai Sau area was approximately 50-60%, lower than during the 2/9/2025 holiday, when the locality welcomed over 230,000 beachgoers over four days, with 50,000 visitors on National Day alone.

Phu Quoc, An Giang, is currently in its rainy season, leading to fewer visitors at attractions like Ho Quoc Pagoda, Phu Quoc Prison, Hon Thom cable car, and the Mediterranean area. According to tour guide Duc Hau of Hoang Viet Travel, this is a transitional season where domestic tourists limit long-distance travel after the summer peak, and international tourists have not yet entered their peak season, which typically begins in late September.

Despite the clear conditions on the first day, Mustgo booking data indicates that many destinations are fully booked or nearly fully booked for the remaining days of the holiday. Da Lat's room occupancy reached 90-100%, Hue is fully booked until the end of September at many establishments, while Mang Den and Sa Pa achieved 85-90% occupancy.
