Michelin-recommended pho restaurants to try in Hanoi this National Day

Pho Bo Lam, Pho Bo Au Trieu, Pho Ga Nguyet, and Pho Khoi Hoi are among the establishments praised by the Michelin Guide in Vietnam for their food quality and flavor.

Nine pho restaurants are featured in the 2025 Michelin Guide Vietnam selection, either as recommended or Bib Gourmand (good food at a moderate price): Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su (Hoan Kiem), Pho Bo Lam, Pho Gia Truyen (Hoan Kiem), Pho Bo Au Trieu, Pho Ga Nguyet, Pho Khoi Hoi, Pho Ga Cham (Yen Ninh), Pho Cuon Chinh Thang, and Pho Tien.

These locations are mostly in central Hanoi, convenient for visitors attending the National Day parade and staying in the Old Quarter.

Pho Bo Lam

Address: Hang Vai street, Hoan Kiem district (Bib Gourmand)

Open daily from 5:30 am to 10 am, often selling out early on weekends. The restaurant, located in the owner's house, has 6 to 7 tables inside and 2 to 3 tables outside. The "pho loi" (tenderloin pho) is the restaurant's specialty and most popular dish, featuring tender beef and crunchy tendon. Photo: Hoang Giang

Pho Khoi Hoi

Address: Hang Vai street, Hoan Kiem district (Bib Gourmand)

According to the Michelin Guide, "hoi" in "Khoi Hoi" refers to the owner's hairstyle. The renowned French culinary guide recommends the beef pho with various toppings like brisket and flank. Photo: Hoang Giang

Pho Bo Au Trieu

Address: Au Trieu street, Cua Nam district (Bib Gourmand)

This signless restaurant beside St. Joseph's Cathedral seats only about 30 people and is always packed during peak hours. Both local and international diners often queue or sit on plastic stools across the street. Unlike the typical light, clear broth of Hanoi pho, Pho Bo Au Trieu features a cloudy, rich, and flavorful broth. This unique 80-year-old recipe contributes to the restaurant's popularity. Pho Gia Truyen Bat Dan

Address: 49 Bat Dan street, Hoan Kiem district (Bib Gourmand)

The restaurant offers various options, including rare flank, rare, and well-done beef pho. Diners often order crispy breadsticks to enhance the flavor. The golden, rich poached chicken is another popular dish. Photo: munchiemood/Instagram

Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su

Address: Ly Quoc Su street, Hoan Kiem district (Bib Gourmand)

Known for its rich, flavorful broth, this restaurant serves over 10 types of pho, from rare and well-done beef to poached flank. The small kitchen is located near the entrance, separated by a partition. "The rich, refreshing bowl of pho, with tender slices of beef that melt in your mouth, offers a complete dining experience," according to the Michelin Guide. Photo: Tripadvisor

Pho Ga Nguyet

Address: Phu Doan street, Cua Nam district (Bib Gourmand)

The chicken pho here is served with various cuts of meat, but the tender thigh is the most popular choice, suitable for both soup and dry pho, according to Michelin experts. Diners can combine thigh with wing, or wing with breast, and then add seasonings to their taste. Open until midnight, it's a popular spot for late-night meals. Photo: Quynh Mai

Pho Ga Tien

Address: Nguyen Truong To street, Ba Dinh district (Michelin recommended)

This Michelin-recommended pho restaurant on Nguyen Truong To street offers spacious seating and free parking. According to the Michelin Guide, Pho Ga Tien features soft noodles served with spring onions and lime leaves, recommending diners add chicken organs and egg. The guide also praises the accompanying breadsticks. Photo: Thao Nhi

Pho Ga Cham

Address: Yen Ninh street, Ba Dinh district (Michelin recommended)

The chicken pho at this small restaurant is pricier than average but features carefully selected chicken and a naturally sweet, well-seasoned broth. Customers can choose chicken breast, thigh, or a combination, and add chili, garlic, and lime to their liking. Often crowded from early morning, those arriving late might miss the best cuts of meat. It's a great place for an authentic Hanoi breakfast, serving until 2 pm daily. Photo: Hiep Tien

Pho Cuon Chinh Thang

Established in 2000 and considered the birthplace of pho rolls, this small restaurant remains a favorite. The soft rice paper rolls filled with beef, vegetables, and herbs, served with sweet and sour fish sauce, or the crispy fried pho topped with beef sauce, are popular dishes. Address: Mac Dinh Chi street, Ba Dinh district (Michelin recommended). Photo: Tripadvisor
