On 29/12, Philippine Airlines launched a flight safety video for its international Airbus A350-1000 routes. Titled "Safetynovela", the video blends aviation safety information with a "love triangle" storyline. Within two weeks of its release on YouTube, the video garnered 5,4 million views, becoming the most watched video on the airline's channel.
The plot centers on a dramatic love triangle between Luisa, a wealthy woman forced to marry Diego, and Anton, a poor man. The narrative integrates tearful moments, conflict, betrayal, and unexpected twists to convey essential flight safety instructions. These include fastening seatbelts, wearing oxygen masks during sudden pressure changes, identifying emergency exits, adopting the brace position, and donning life vests.
The video also subtly promotes the beauty of the Philippines by showcasing famous landmarks such as Bohol, Boracay, Pangasinan, Malcapuya Island in Palawan, and Daraga Church in Albay.
