Nguyen Chau A, general director of Oxalis, confirmed this is the first time the company's website has been faked to sell tours; previous incidents were limited to social media. He noted the fake website appeared in September and recently started advertising. Customers who book a tour, provide information, and make payments through this site risk losing their money.
"No cases of customers being scammed have been detected yet, but some customers who were about to make payments re-checked with the company and discovered the fraud," he said.
The company is actively collecting evidence and has submitted requests for investigation to the Cybersecurity Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police, and reported the incident to the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
According to Mr. A, customers booking legitimate Oxalis tours do not pay immediately. Instead, staff contact them to verify their health and physical fitness before payment and confirmation. "Everyone is advised to be cautious when booking tours to avoid being scammed, especially foreigners," he said.
