On the morning of 4/10, over 3,000 Chinese tourists arrived at Incheon Airport, marking the start of their week-long National Day holiday trip to South Korea. The group included families, couples, and friends of various ages.
Shopping was a main activity for these visitors. Tourists bought large quantities of sports shoes, cosmetics, and seaweed. One tourist reported spending 3,000 USD on sports products, citing lower prices in South Korea compared to other markets.
Despite staying only about 8 hours in Seoul, many tourists made sure to visit well-known spots such as the Jjajangmyeon Museum, the Myeong-dong shopping district, and various duty-free shops.
In Myeong-dong, seaweed stalls attracted many Chinese visitors. A local seaweed producer reported a 40-50% increase in Chinese customers recently.
According to a survey by a Chinese tourism consulting firm, South Korea has surpassed Japan to become a top destination that Chinese tourists favor, especially for trips combining sightseeing and shopping.
