According to a Sun PhuQuoc Airways representative, South Korea represents the airline's second international market, following Dai Bac, China. The direct Phu Quoc - Seoul route aims to shorten travel times, reduce reliance on transit points, and foster two-way tourism between Vietnam and South Korea.
Data from the Statistics Department indicates that South Korea ranked second among Vietnam's top 10 inbound tourism markets in 2025, contributing approximately 4,3 million visitors. Among these, Phu Quoc stands out as a popular island destination favored by South Korean tourists.
Phu Quoc International Airport reported significant growth in 2025, welcoming 2,991 flights from South Korea and serving 555,864 passengers. This represents an increase of almost 12% compared to 2024.

A representative noted that Phu Quoc's appeal is rooted in its diverse ecosystem of resorts and entertainment. Sun Group's developments in the south of the island feature numerous tourism products, including: luxury resorts, the Hon Thom cable car, entertainment shows, fireworks displays, night markets, and iconic structures such as Kiss Bridge. Furthermore, the visa exemption policy for international tourists, allowing stays of up to 30 days on the "Pearl Island", facilitates longer leisure trips.

Beyond its beaches, Phu Quoc also attracts South Korean tourists with golf tourism experiences at Eschuri Vung Bau Golf, set amidst lush forests, blue seas, and white sands. South Korean television channel SBS Golf Channel and Hankyung magazine have previously highlighted Eschuri Vung Bau Golf as a new favorite golf destination for South Korean visitors seeking premier competition combined with luxurious relaxation on the island.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways operates a "hub-and-spoke" network model, positioning Phu Quoc as its central connection point. As of late February, the airline's fleet comprises 10 aircraft, including 5 newly delivered A321neo planes.
In 2/2026, the airline also signed a contract in Washington D.C. to purchase 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner wide-body aircraft, valued at a total of 22,5 billion USD. According to Ms. Stephanie Pope, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, this order for 40 787 Dreamliners marks Sun PhuQuoc Airways' first direct purchase and is also Vietnam's largest Boeing wide-body aircraft order.
By the end of this year, the airline plans to expand its international network, connecting Phu Quoc with destinations such as: Kaohsiung (Dai Bac, China), Busan (South Korea), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Hong Kong, and Mumbai, New Delhi (India).
