Sun PhuQuoc Airways is expanding its flight network to China, a key market for Vietnamese tourism, by launching two new direct routes to Chengdu. The Phu Quoc - Chengdu route will commence on 16/7, followed by the Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM) - Chengdu route on 12/8.
The Phu Quoc - Chengdu route will operate three round-trip flights each week on tuesday, thursday, and saturday. Flights are scheduled to depart Phu Quoc Airport at 16:25 and arrive at Tianfu Chengdu International Airport at 21:05 (local time). The return flight will depart Chengdu at 22:05 (local time) and arrive in Phu Quoc at 0:50. This journey, lasting less than 4 hours, significantly reduces travel time and offers more options for travelers between the two destinations. According to Sun Group, this marks the first regular direct flight connecting Phu Quoc, often called the "pearl island," directly with the city in Southwest China.
Following this, from 12/8, Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) will launch the TP HCM - Chengdu route, with an anticipated frequency of 4 round-trip flights each week on monday, wednesday, friday, and sunday. Flights are expected to depart Tan Son Nhat Airport at 16:35, landing in Chengdu at 21:05 (local time). The return journey will depart Chengdu at 22:05 (local time) and arrive in TP HCM at 1:00.

According to an airline representative, the simultaneous launch of these two new routes enhances connectivity between Vietnam and Southwest China. With over 21 million residents, Chengdu is a vital economic, commercial, and transportation hub in China, as well as one of the country's fastest-growing outbound tourism markets.
Beyond its economic significance, Chengdu is renowned for Sichuan culture, Sichuan opera, distinctive cuisine, and as the home of giant pandas. The city is considered a crucial gateway to accessing the Southwest China market.
To celebrate the ticket launch, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is offering a promotion of up to 20% off ticket prices on both new routes from 26/6 to 26/7. During the launch phase, one-way fares for the Phu Quoc - Chengdu route start from 2,408 million VND.
The airline is also integrating services from the Sun Group ecosystem to enhance the passenger experience. Passengers arriving in Phu Quoc will receive complimentary tickets to Sun World Hon Thom cable car. Additionally, travelers can enjoy up to 30% off various resort, dining, spa, and entertainment services in Phu Quoc.

SPA flights are integrated with Sun Group's Sun Signature loyalty program. Through a partnership with NCB bank and Visa, reward points accumulated from flights can be used at over 1,600 service points within the Sun Group ecosystem, including aviation, hotels, entertainment areas, and other consumer services. All these benefits are accessible on a single membership card with global payment convenience.
An airline representative stated that the "Resort in the Sky" (in-flight resort experience) model is Sun PhuQuoc Airways' service development strategy. In Phu Quoc, passengers can check in at some Sun Group ecosystem hotels before heading to the airport. The airline also operates the Sun Executive Lounge at Phu Quoc Airport, featuring a unique aroma, a curated menu combining Vietnamese and European cuisine, and offerings from brands like Eric Kayser, TWG tea, and specialty coffee. In TP HCM, the airline connects passengers with a network of international standard partner lounges.
Onboard, passengers can enjoy a relaxing cabin environment with La Festa fragrance, comfortable leather seats, a wireless entertainment system, and hot meals throughout their journey.

As part of its development plan, Sun PhuQuoc Airways expects to further expand its network to major Chinese cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. Strengthening connections with the world's leading outbound (international travel) market is considered a component of the "Rise to the World" (reaching out internationally) strategy for stage 2026-2027. This also prepares the airline for its next development phase, which includes the future introduction of Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft.
