Located about 7 km from the city center, Phieng Loi village is nestled along the poetic Nam Rom river, surrounded by majestic limestone mountains and fertile rice fields. A highlight of the village is its cluster of traditional Thai Den stilt houses, featuring yin-yang tiled roofs and distinctive "khau cut" decorative details.
This is the third well-planned community tourism village in the central provincial area, alongside Men village and Him Lam village, contributing to the diversification of Dien Bien's tourism products.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Quang Hung, Secretary of Dien Bien Phu ward, emphasized that the announcement and opening of Phieng Loi community tourism village mark a significant shift in the development of community tourism in the area. Hung affirmed, "The event contributes to making tourism a key economic sector, aligning with Dien Bien province's development orientation."
The People's Committee of Dien Bien Phu ward also launched the "Dien Bien Phu Tour" smart tourism software at the opening ceremony.
At the event, visitors immersed themselves in a vibrant cultural space. Right from the village entrance, Thai young women in colorful "ao com" blouses and "khan pieu" headscarves welcomed guests with friendly smiles and warm cups of rice wine.
Phieng Loi's service system has been upgraded, respecting the natural landscape. Homestay businesses have renovated bathrooms and sleeping quarters to international standards while retaining the rustic charm of wooden stilt houses. Along the stream flowing through the village, locals have installed water wheels, bamboo bridges, and planted buckwheat and mustard flowers to create attractive check-in spots.
Visitors to Phieng Loi can enjoy a traditional meal featuring elaborately prepared dishes such as: grilled stream fish (pa pinh top), smoked buffalo meat, buffalo skin salad, stone moss, and seven-color sticky rice. Distinctive spices like "hat doi" and "mac khen" make the flavors unforgettable.

After dinner, lively cultural exchanges took place at the village cultural house. The amateur art troupe performed "xoe" dances, "sap" dances, and "then" singing, inviting visitors to join the circle dance of solidarity around a campfire.
According to local representatives, the activation of Phieng Loi village for tourism not only creates additional livelihoods and increases income for local residents but also helps preserve and promote the intangible cultural values of the Thai ethnic group. In the coming period, the village plans to connect tours with Dien Bien Phu Battlefield historical sites and Pa Khoang lake to encourage longer stays for tourists.
