Two Vietnamese cities ranked among the world's best by the Telegraph

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have been recognized among the world's greatest cities in 2025 by the UK's Telegraph newspaper.

Around 20,000 readers participated in the Telegraph Travel Awards 2025, a global poll conducted in July by the UK newspaper established in 1855. Hanoi ranked 31st out of 105 cities, down 4 places from 2023. Ho Chi Minh City secured the 77th spot, a one-place drop from the previous year.

The Telegraph, a respected British newspaper known for in-depth analysis of politics, economics, culture, and tourism, described Hanoi as an ideal destination for culture enthusiasts. The city showcases a blend of tradition and modernity, evident in its East-meets-West architecture. Ho Chi Minh City was portrayed as a vibrant metropolis with the distinctive sounds of motorbikes, ancient architecture alongside skyscrapers and modern shopping malls.

Cape Town, South Africa, topped the list, marking its seventh time in the number one spot in the past 10 years. This destination is renowned for its stunning beaches along the Atlantic coast and famous wine regions like Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
