Iran's Intelligence Ministry announced the arrest of 30 individuals, including one foreign national, in recent days. The ministry described the group as "spies, mercenaries, and embedded agents of the United States and Israel". Authorities seized numerous firearms and a large quantity of ammunition during the operation.
The foreign national is accused of "conducting espionage for the United States and Israel, while also acting as an intermediary for two Gulf countries", according to the Intelligence Ministry. The suspect reportedly transmitted information to adversaries regarding the locations and movements of Iranian police and military forces, as well as military facilities. Iran has not yet disclosed the nationality of the foreign national.

The arrests were announced on the 11th day since the United States and Israel launched attacks against Iran. These conflicts have resulted in over 1,700 fatalities across the Middle East, with more than 1,200 deaths recorded in Iran.
Prior to these events, Israel's Mossad intelligence agency and the United States' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had previously posted videos in Persian calling on Iranians to cooperate with them. Following the 12-day conflict with Israel and the United States in 6/2025, Iran intensified its crackdown on espionage, imprisoning and executing many individuals on these charges. International experts believe Mossad has built an extensive spy network in Iran over decades, recruiting corrupt officials, nuclear scientists, or dissidents as informants to provide information and identify targets.
