Donald Trump's childhood home sells for nearly 2 million USD

President Trump's childhood home in New York is renovated and transferred after a long period of deterioration.

The Tudor-style house in Jamaica Estates, Queens, where Donald Trump resided until he was four years old, has recently been sold for 1,93 million USD. Real estate websites updated the sale information on 12/9/2020, approximately two months after the contract was signed. The identity of the buyer has not been disclosed.

The property holds historical significance as it was built in 1940 by Mr. Trump's father, real estate businessman Fred Trump. The Trump family relinquished ownership of this home many years ago.

Tommy Lin, a real estate businessman and the seller, purchased the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house for 835.000 USD last year. At the time of his acquisition, the residence had been abandoned and neglected for years, overgrown with mold and serving as a refuge for a colony of stray cats. According to the New York Post, Lin subsequently invested an additional 500.000 USD in an eight-month renovation project. This extensive overhaul equipped the house with numerous new amenities, including a professional chef's kitchen, herringbone hardwood floors, and spa-inspired bathrooms.

This property has changed hands multiple times throughout the years. Zillow reports that the house was previously sold for 2,14 million USD just months after Mr. Trump assumed the presidency in 2017. The buyer at that time was a legal entity known as Trump Birth Home LLC. For a brief period, the house was listed for short-term rentals on Airbnb, featuring a life-sized cardboard cutout of Mr. Trump, copies of *The Art of the Deal*, and People magazine covers showcasing him. In 2019, the house was relisted for 2,9 million USD but failed to attract a buyer, leading to its continued deterioration until Lin acquired it.
