Pajit restaurant in Nakhon Pathom province, about 30 km from Bangkok, Thailand, was flooded 11 days ago after a nearby river overflowed its banks. However, instead of closing, the restaurant continued operations and became a social media sensation, attracting diners who pose in the brown water surrounded by schools of fish.

Owner Pornkamol Prangprempree stated that Pa Jit restaurant, located by the river, has been operating for over 30 years. When the restaurant first flooded about 4 years ago, she was disheartened.
"I thought no customers would come to eat," she recounted. "But then, a customer posted a photo online showing fish swimming inside the restaurant. After that, many people flocked here."
Prangprempree mentioned that the flooding unexpectedly boosted her business, doubling profits from 309 USD to around 618 USD daily.
Chomphunuth Khantaniti, 29, a resident of the same province, visited the restaurant with her husband and son. She said she couldn't resist when she heard the news.
"I thought this was wonderful, because we could bring the children," she said. "When the children see the fish, they will be less restless. I believe that throughout Thailand, only here can you see fish swimming around like this."
Bella Windy, 63, came to the restaurant wanting to try the sensation of fish nibbling her feet. "Normally, if the water rises, fish will swim in," she explained. "The experience of connecting with nature is a highlight of the restaurant, and it attracts everyone."

Pa Jit may continue to be flooded for several more weeks due to rising tides and the final days of the monsoon season keeping water levels high.
While the flood brought an unusual benefit to Pa Jit restaurant, it devastated other areas in Thailand. As of 14/11, the floods had affected over 480,000 people in 13 provinces across the country.
