Bardella attended an event in Moissac, southwestern France, on 29/11 to promote his new book. A 74-year-old man approached him and smashed an egg on his head to express his opposition.
Montauban city prosecutor, Bruno Sauvage, said the suspect was arrested on charges of an act of violence against a public official. Bardella also filed a complaint.

This attack occurred just days after Bardella was pelted with flour during a visit to an agricultural fair in Vesoul, eastern France. Police arrested a 17-year-old accused of throwing flour at him. The teenager was released the next day but will have to attend a civic education course.
"The more we advance, the closer we get to power, the more violence from the far-left, intolerance, and ignorance emerge. But a new wind of freedom, national pride, and patriotism is blowing across France, and they will not be able to stop it", Bardella posted on X on 29/11, adding that he was fine.
Bardella is a potential candidate for the National Rally party in the 2027 French presidential election, when President Emmanuel Macron's term ends. The far-right party has recently improved its election results as Macron's Renaissance party faces much criticism.
