Myanmar police announced on 5/10 that the Mingaladon District Court in Yangon recently tried a criminal group involved in the scam, recruitment, human trafficking, and organ harvesting of Belarusian model Vera Kravtsova.
Kravtsova, 26, gained fame in Belarus after appearing on The Voice talent show. She worked as a model and singer, holding a degree in music-related studies.

In early 9/2025, Kravtsova saw an online advertisement for a high-paying part-time modeling opportunity. She then purchased a plane ticket to Bangkok, Thailand.
Major General Choengron Rimpadee, spokesperson for the Thai Immigration Bureau, stated that Kravtsova arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on 14/9/2025 and departed the country on Thai Airways flight TG 301 to Yangon six days later. There were no indications that she was coerced or kidnapped to Myanmar.
After arriving in Yangon, Kravtsova lost contact with her family from 4/10/2025. According to Russian media, she was taken to a scam center in northern Myanmar or a border area near Thailand.
There, she was forced to participate in online scams, tasked with seducing and defrauding wealthy clients. When she failed to meet targets, she was tortured, murdered, and her organs were sold to criminal networks.
Her family received a message demanding 500,000 USD for Kravtsova's safe return. The perpetrators later informed her parents that she had died and been cremated.
Myanmar police did not disclose how they investigated and arrested five citizens linked to enticing and murdering Kravtsova. The Mingaladon District Court sentenced each defendant to 21 years in prison under Myanmar's Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law.
The United Nations estimated in 10/2025 that at least 120,000 people were trapped in online scam compounds across Myanmar. Human trafficking experts and rescue groups indicate that current crackdowns have not significantly diminished this industry.
