A severe flash flood occurred on 26/8 in Nepal's border region with China's Tibet, burying many structures and causing significant casualties. Nepalese officials reported finding over 160 bodies and estimated more than 1,000 people missing, including hundreds of citizens from countries such as India, the US, Australia, the UK, and South Korea.

"Many villages and markets have been completely wiped out", said David Fisher, head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) delegation in Nepal.

According to Nepal's disaster response agency, satellite data indicates that an ice and rock landslide in the Nepal-China border area likely triggered the flood.
