International community speaks out on attacks targeting Iran

Leaders worldwide are closely monitoring the Middle East situation, urging all parties to resume negotiations and prevent civilian casualties.

Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union (EU), stated today that the current developments in Iran are "dangerous". She called for civilian protection, emphasizing that ensuring international humanitarian law is a top priority.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. It called for an immediate ceasefire and affirmed that Iran's national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity must be respected.

Russia criticized the United States and Israel for launching a "dangerous and irresponsible attack" on Iran, which Moscow believes is pushing the entire Middle East into an abyss. "Washington and Tel Aviv are once again embarking on a dangerous adventure, rapidly bringing the region closer to humanitarian, economic, and potentially radioactive catastrophe," Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also stated that the US and Israel's attacks "push the Middle East to the brink of disaster", and urged involved parties to "seek diplomatic solutions instead of further escalating tensions".

Switzerland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the attack on Iran, stating that all parties should exercise maximum restraint, protect civilians, and civilian infrastructure.

Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar said she is monitoring the latest developments "with deep concern". Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also called for immediate de-escalation and full respect for international law.

US and Israeli forces launched an offensive against Iran on the morning of 28/2, targeting defense and intelligence facilities, as well as several high-ranking officials and generals.

Israel announced the name of its offensive on Iran as "Roaring Lion", following the "Rising Lion" operation during the 12-day conflict in 6/2025. Meanwhile, the US Department of Defense named its attack on Iran "Horrific Wrath".

Iran quickly announced a retaliatory operation targeting Israeli territory and several US bases in Middle Eastern countries, causing damage. In a statement about the operation, President Donald Trump warned that US forces could suffer many casualties in this conflict.

As of the evening of 28/2, Mizan Online, the website of Iran's judiciary, reported that the number of fatalities from an airstrike on a girls' school in Minab had risen to 85.
