Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated today that from their perspective, the memorandum of understanding involves two parties: on one side, the United States and Israel, and on the other, Iran and Hezbollah. The most important content of this memorandum is the immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. According to Araghchi, ending hostilities in Lebanon is an integral part of fully concluding the war.
The United States and Iran announced on 15/6 an agreement to end the war that erupted in late February. Lebanon was drawn into the conflict in early March when Hezbollah forces launched rockets into Israel in retaliation for the death of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an initial US-Israel attack. Tel Aviv subsequently carried out airstrikes and ground offensives in response.

Foreign Minister Araghchi believes the cessation of hostilities cannot be considered complete "if Israeli forces have not withdrawn from the territories they occupied during this war." He added, "We determine that any Israeli military attack against Lebanon from this point forward, as well as the continued occupation of Lebanese territory, will be considered a violation of the memorandum."
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that his country's forces would continue to be present in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip "as long as necessary." Following the agreement's announcement, Hezbollah reported attacking Israeli forces attempting to advance deeper into southern Lebanon.
The document is expected to be signed on 19/6 in Geneva, Switzerland. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated that Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf would attend the signing ceremony with a delegation. The US side will be led by Vice President JD Vance. "It is currently unclear how the signing will proceed," he said.
According to Foreign Minister Araghchi, after the signing ceremony, Iran will begin negotiations with the United States on Tehran's nuclear program. "In the final agreement, decisions will be made regarding nuclear issues and the lifting of sanctions," the Iranian diplomat emphasized.
