Major General Ali Abdullahi, commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command, labeled the US as "the greatest enemy." He warned that any aggression would be met with a "decisive and devastating response" from Iranian armed forces, vowing to "make the US pay a heavier price" than in previous conflicts.
This new attack follows the US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees Washington's military operations in the Middle East, announcing on 18/7 its 8th consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran. CENTCOM stated it targeted facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which they claim carried out attacks that killed two US soldiers in Jordan.
Iranian news agencies Fars and Tasnim reported US attacks on Sirik, Bandar Abbas, and Bandar Lengeh in southern Iran.
Tasnim also stated that US fighter jets conducted multiple attacks on Iran's Qeshm island, with at least two explosions reported. Rescue, security, and operational teams were deployed to assess casualties or damage.

The renewed hostilities come despite a temporary ceasefire signed by the US and Iran in mid-june, which had brought three weeks of peace to the Gulf region. Tensions around the Hormuz Strait led to the resumption of fighting in recent days.
The current escalation began with Iranian attacks on ships in the Hormuz Strait, a vital transport route for the Gulf's energy exports that Tehran seeks to control. In response, the US re-imposed a blockade on Iranian seaports and conducted airstrikes.
