Kuwait's Foreign Ministry announced today that Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Suleiman Al-Mashaan summoned Iran's Charge d'affaires Hamid Yaqoubi Far to deliver a protest note regarding an early morning attack. This decision came in response to what Al-Mashaan described as "continuous and flagrant" ballistic missile and UAV attacks by Iran on Kuwaiti territory.
As a direct result, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry declared two members of the Iranian diplomatic mission "persona non grata," requesting their departure within 24 hours.

The UAV attack on the passenger terminal of Kuwait International Airport resulted in one death and 63 injuries. An airport source told AFP that the deceased was an Indian national. Ministry of Health spokesperson Abdullah al-Sanad stated that 25 ambulances were dispatched, adding that 63 people received treatment for head injuries, brain hemorrhages, amputations, and other wounds.
Saud Abdulaziz al-Atwan, spokesperson for Kuwait's Defense Ministry, reported that the country's military detected and intercepted 13 ballistic missiles in Kuwaiti airspace early this morning. He added that 17 UAVs were also detected and stopped. Al-Atwan described this as "brutal aggression," accusing Iran of targeting Kuwait's civilian and vital infrastructure.

Deputy Foreign Minister Al-Mashaan affirmed Kuwait "resolutely rejects" the use of its territory or airspace for hostile actions against any nation. He denied Iranian accusations that the US conducted airstrikes from Kuwaiti territory, calling Iran's allegations "groundless" and stating such claims cannot justify attacks on Kuwaiti territory or civilian facilities.
Kuwait temporarily suspended air operations after the attack, diverting planes to other destinations, but later resumed Kuwait Airways flights. This international airport has been targeted multiple times throughout the conflict and only fully resumed operations on 1/6. "For the first time, my children understood how serious the situation was, and this is not normal," said Hassan Sheikh, a 40-year-old Pakistani resident living near the airport.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) did not claim responsibility for the civilian airport attack but accused Kuwait and Bahrain of facilitating US use of their territory to attack Iran. The IRGC stated they targeted a different location: "Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait."

Bahraini authorities reported intercepting three Iranian missiles and several unmanned aerial vehicles. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) urged neighboring Gulf countries to collectively oppose Tehran's actions. "This aggression targets not just one nation, but all of us," Anwar Gargash, advisor to the UAE president, posted on social media.
