Medvedev threatens to target UAV production facilities for Ukraine in Europe

Russia's Security Council deputy chairman warns UAV manufacturing facilities for Ukraine in Europe will be considered "potential targets".

Russia's Defense Ministry stated on 15/4 that several European governments have decided to boost production and supply of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Ukraine. These UAVs are intended for attacks on Russian territory, a move the ministry warned escalates the situation and increasingly draws these nations into conflict with Russia.

The ministry also published a list of factories and enterprises in European countries that Russia believes are producing UAVs and components for Ukraine, along with their addresses. These include facilities in the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Israel, and other nations.

"European citizens not only need to understand the true cause of the threat to their security, but also must know the addresses and locations of Ukrainian enterprises and joint ventures producing UAVs and components for Kiev within their own countries," Russia's Defense Ministry stated.

Russia's Security Council deputy chairman Dmitry Medvedev said the list of "UAV and other component manufacturing facilities in Europe" published by Russia's Defense Ministry is also a "list of potential targets." He warned, "Whether attacks become a reality will depend on what happens next. Sleep well, European partners."

Russian officials have repeatedly made statements seen as deterring European nations regarding their support for Ukraine. According to Reuters news agency, these statements are warnings or hints rather than indications of an imminent Russian attack.

UAVs, or drones in general, are currently key assets in the Ukraine conflict. Both warring sides regularly deploy UAVs to attack enemy territory during the conflict.

The UK Defense Ministry announced on 15/4 its "largest ever" drone supply package to Ukraine. London is set to transfer at least 120,000 devices to Kiev in 2026. The consignment includes thousands of long-range attack drones, reconnaissance drones, logistics drones, and maritime assets, all "combat-proven on the front lines in Ukraine." Deliveries commenced in 4/2026.

UK Defense Minister John Healey stated this addition will "provide Ukraine with the capabilities needed to defend its people and counter Russian forces."
