US President Donald Trump announced the news on social media, stating, "The agreement with Iran is complete. Congratulations everyone."

President Trump further announced the immediate lifting of the US maritime blockade against Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz "without transit fees." He added, "Ships worldwide, activate your engines. Let the oil flow."

The US President's announcement followed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's statement that the United States and Iran had reached a peace agreement. Sharif confirmed, "Both sides have declared an immediate and permanent cessation of military activities on all fronts, including Lebanon," adding that the agreement is scheduled to be signed in Switzerland on 19/6.
