National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hosts welcome ceremony for South Korean National Assembly Speaker

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hosted a welcome ceremony for his South Korean counterpart, Woo Won Shik, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from 20-22/11.

South Korean National Assembly Speaker Woo Won Shik, accompanied by his wife Shin Kyunghye, arrived in Hanoi this morning and later paid respects at President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

This afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, hosted a welcome ceremony for Speaker Woo Won Shik and his wife at the National Assembly House. Following the ceremony, the two leaders held talks and witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two national assemblies.

Speaker Woo Won Shik is also scheduled to meet with General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and engage in other activities.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea Vu Ho, the South Korean National Assembly Speaker's visit to Vietnam, with its busy schedule at year-end, brings significant expectations for bilateral diplomatic relations. Ambassador Vu Ho emphasized that this visit demonstrates South Korea's strong political determination to deepen and substantially implement the Vietnam-South Korea comprehensive strategic partnership.

The visit also underscores the key role of parliamentary diplomacy in the overall bilateral relationship, while sending a clear message of political trust, strategic alignment, and a shared vision for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Vietnam and South Korea established diplomatic relations on 22/12/1992. Bilateral trade turnover reached 81,5 billion USD in 2024, an increase of 7,3% compared to 2023. South Korea consistently ranks as one of the major tourist markets for Vietnam.
