Jensen Huang joined the delegation at the invitation of President Donald Trump to support the United States and the administration's goals, Nvidia's spokesperson confirmed on 12/5. The CEO participated in the three-day visit to China alongside the US leader's delegation.
Politico, citing informed sources, reported that the White House sent an additional invitation to the Nvidia CEO. This came after media outlets initially reported he was not on the list of business leaders accompanying the delegation to China.
President Trump also posted on social media on 12/5, confirming Huang was aboard Air Force One departing for China. He denied reports by news outlets, including CNBC, that the Nvidia CEO had not been invited.
"CNBC falsely reported that Nvidia's Jensen Huang was not invited to the meeting of the world's greatest business leaders, who are proudly going to China", Trump wrote.

On 11/5, the White House announced the list of executives joining President Trump on his trip from 13-15/5. The list included Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Larry Fink of BlackRock, the world's largest asset management firm, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, Dina Powell McCormick of Meta, Ryan McInerney of Visa, a leading global electronic payments company, and several other business leaders.
This will be Trump's first visit to China since his 2017 state visit during his first term. His most recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping was in South Korea in 10/2025.
According to Reuters, Beijing is expected to announce a deal to purchase Boeing aircraft, China's first major order since 2017. The deal would also include US agricultural and energy products.
Topics such as tariffs, Taiwan, and competition over artificial intelligence and strategic minerals are also expected to be discussed. Trump stated that his proposal to open the Chinese market to US businesses would be his "first proposal" to Xi.
