Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today that President Vladimir Putin conveyed Tehran's perspective on a potential conflict resolution to President Donald Trump. This information was shared during a phone call between the Russian and US leaders the day prior, following Putin's coordination with the Iranian President.
Peskov did not specify Iran's message or President Trump's response.

Yuri Ushakov, President Putin's foreign policy advisor, stated the phone call lasted one and a half hours, with the situation in Iran among the topics discussed. Ushakov emphasized, "The Russian leader specifically highlighted that diplomatic solutions regarding the Iran issue are not exhausted. It is possible to reach an agreement with Tehran through negotiations, and this opportunity should be utilized." According to Ushakov, President Putin also informed Trump that the proposal for "Russia to take Iran's enriched uranium" remains valid.
Putin met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on 8/10 on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Turkmenistan. Putin affirmed he would "do everything possible" to help end the Middle East conflict, acknowledging Iran's "genuine efforts" to conclude the war. During the meeting, Pezeshkian remarked, "We are engaging in dialogue, but whenever we negotiate with the US, they launch attacks."
The Iranian leader stated Tehran seeks a "final framework" to end hostilities, accusing Washington of attempting to impose its views and policies on all nations. Pezeshkian asserted, "If the US insists on pursuing a unilateral approach, a solution cannot be achieved." On 9/10, he declared that peace talks can only succeed without pressure or threats. "Negotiations conducted under the shadow of force are not negotiations, but imposition and coercion," Pezeshkian said, stressing that sanctions targeting Iran would impact trade, connectivity, energy, and regional order.

Diplomatic efforts to end the Middle East conflict have stalled since summer. The two countries reached a memorandum of understanding on a conflict resolution framework in June, but the agreement quickly collapsed due to disputes over control of the Strait of Hormuz and reciprocal attacks. The US recently reduced military operations to focus on economic pressure and has not attacked Iran since 1/9. However, recent indirect talks on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session yielded no breakthroughs.
