"The Nobel Peace Prize has permanently lost its credibility at the hands of a small group of extremist, anti-democracy ideologues who are truly enemies of civilization. We will not forget, Norway," US President Donald Trump declared to supporters at a rally in Syracuse, New York on 9/10.
According to him, the award should have been given to the United States, "represented by me as everyone's President."
"But that didn't happen. This is an indelible stain on the country of Norway and on those who made that shameful decision," Trump added.

Trump listed several conflicts he claimed to have helped resolve, asserting he prevented fighting from erupting between Korea and North Korea, Japan and North Korea, as well as China and Taiwan, though he provided no evidence for these claims.
Referring to this year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Navanethem Pillay, Trump called her an "unknown person." "I've never heard of this person. Nobody knows her. Congratulations to her anyway," he said.
Navanethem Pillay, 85 years old, a South African national, received the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for "her efforts to promote peace and international law." "This year's laureate has made significant contributions to ensuring the prosecution of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide," Jorgen Watne Frydnes, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, announced in Oslo.
The USD 1,2 million prize is scheduled to be awarded in Oslo on 10/12, commemorating the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel Prizes.
Pillay is currently a special judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Nations' principal judicial organ responsible for adjudicating legal disputes between sovereign states. She previously served as a judge at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Two days before the award announcement, Trump reiterated his belief that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for "ending 8 wars" and "doing what no one else had ever done."
"They have a reputation for not giving the award to people like me. But whether I get it or not, what I've done far surpasses many others. And if they don't give it to me, that will be a huge minus point for them," the US President stated.
According to experts in Oslo, factors disqualifying Trump from receiving the award include the conflict he initiated against Iran, his ambition to expand territory like in Greenland, his strict immigration policies, and his actions against multilateralism and the media.
