Ukraine has recently accused Russia of repeatedly striking civilian targets, resulting in heavy casualties. Ukrainian police reported that Russia dropped five glide bombs this morning on residential areas in Zaporizhzhia city, striking two buildings and killing at least 11 people, including three children. Mykhailo Semikin, head of Ukraine's military administration in Zaporizhzhia province, stated that rescue teams are still searching for people under the rubble.
On 8/10, Ukraine accused Russia of dropping glide bombs on Kramatorsk city in Donetsk province, destroying two buses and killing 30 people. The day before, a five-story apartment building in Pryluky city, Chernihiv province, was also hit by a missile, killing 22 people, including five children.

Russia and Ukraine have regularly attacked each other with missiles and drones since the conflict began. Russia has recently intensified attacks on its neighbor, targeting industrial defense plants, energy infrastructure, transportation networks, warehouses, and logistics centers. Moscow claims these strikes are in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on civilian facilities on Russian territory.
Diplomatic efforts are also underway to de-escalate the conflict. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, President Donald Trump of the US conveyed ideas to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, aimed at de-escalating the Ukraine conflict during a phone call on 9/10. Peskov stated that President Putin received these proposals "with understanding," but did not specify the content of the proposals or the Russian leader's reaction. Officials from the US, Ukraine, and Europe also met in Miami city on 9/10 as part of a new diplomatic effort to find a solution to end the conflict.
