The My State Department has issued a global directive, instructing its diplomats to convey to host governments the urgent need to "act quickly to degrade Iran's capabilities" due to an increased risk of attacks on those nations. This initiative, reported by NBC News on 16/3, highlights growing concerns about Iran's destabilizing activities.
The diplomatic cable, dated 16/3 and signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, was dispatched to My diplomatic and consular missions worldwide. According to ABC News, the telegram, titled "Increasing Concerns about Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Activities; Immediate Action Required," was labeled "sensitive" but not classified. It mandated that these messages be delivered to host governments by 20/3, with coordination with Israeli partners encouraged where possible.
The telegram outlines Iran's activation of proxy forces to destabilize the region and disrupt oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to inflict global economic damage. It also asserts Iran's long-standing capability and intent to fund attacks in My and elsewhere globally, targeting My and Israel interests, as well as forces opposing Iran.
My diplomats are specifically instructed to lobby host governments, particularly those that have not yet done so, to swiftly designate the IRGC and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations. This move is intended to increase pressure on Iran. Furthermore, nations are encouraged to add the names of IRGC and Hezbollah members and supporters to terror watchlists.
The telegram emphasizes the strategic importance of a united front. "Joint pressure from many nations will have a higher likelihood of compelling the Iranian government to change compared to unilateral measures," the cable stated. "We must act while international attention is focused at this moment, to end Iran's offensive campaign in Trung Dong and globally. Do not let this critical moment pass."
The Donald Trump administration has not directly commented on the telegram. However, when asked for comment, a My State Department spokesperson affirmed that "President Donald Trump is focused on ensuring peace in Trung Dong. The IRGC, Hezbollah, and Iran-backed proxy groups are destabilizing governments and undermining regional peace."
Trung Dong has been embroiled in conflict since My and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran on 28/2. Iran retaliated by firing missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into Israel territory, at My bases in Trung Dong, and critical energy infrastructure in several Gulf nations. The conflict has entered its third week with no signs of abating.

Amidst these escalating tensions, the My President recently asked allies to deploy warships to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. However, many My allies have either not committed or have outright rejected the request. Nhat, Duc, Tay Ban Nha, and Italy have stated they currently have no plans to send ships to help reopen the strait. Meanwhile, many other nations, including Nga, Trung Quoc, and Tay Ban Nha, oppose the My and Israel war against Iran and have called for a swift end to hostilities.
