US President Donald Trump today stated that at an upcoming meeting at the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute on 19/2, he and peace council members will announce a pledge of more than 5 billion USD for humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip. This significant commitment aims to address the urgent needs of the region and support its recovery.
Trump added that the council will also provide thousands of personnel to the international stabilization force and local police. This deployment intends to maintain peace and security for the people in Gaza.
“The peace council will prove to be the most important international body in history, and I am honored to serve as its chairman”, Trump wrote on Truth Social, emphasizing the organization's “limitless potential”.

The US leader also called on the armed group Hamas to adhere to its commitment for "complete and immediate demilitarization". This is a critical part of giai doan 2 of the Gaza ceasefire plan, which the US brokered and Israel and Hamas signed in 10/2025. The United Nations has endorsed this plan.
Giai doan 2 of the agreement stipulates that Israel will gradually withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip, while Hamas will disarm. An international force will then be deployed to the territory to ensure security.
Hamas has repeatedly stated that disarmament is a "red line" for the group. However, it has hinted at potentially considering handing over weapons to a future Palestinian authority.
The peace council, according to Trump's initial plan, was a small group of world leaders responsible for overseeing the Gaza peace plan. Its scope has since expanded, as he extended invitations to about 60 countries and suggested the council would soon mediate global conflicts, akin to a "miniature security council".
