Trump warns Russia, China against aiding Iran

Trump believes Russia and China are not helping Iran in the Middle East conflict, warning both nations would face "very bad consequences" if they intervene.

"During a recent meeting in Beijing, President Xi Jinping told me that China and its companies will not provide or sell weapons to Iran under any circumstances", US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social on 24/7.

The US leader added that President Vladimir Putin also assured him that Russia would not sell weapons to Iran.

"The two key nations often mentioned in connection with Iran, in my opinion, will not be involved. That would be very bad for them, certainly not beneficial", the US President said, referring to the possibility of Russia and China intervening in the conflict.

Trump's comments came after US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told lawmakers earlier this week that Russia and China were involved in the Middle East conflict, though he did not specify details.

Reuters reported this week, citing four sources familiar with the matter, that Iran's precision strikes on US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) facilities in the Gulf early in the conflict prompted US officials to investigate whether Russia had assisted Iran with targeting information or drone technology.

The Kremlin declined to comment on the information.

The US has sanctioned several individuals and companies in Russia and China for assisting Iran in acquiring weapons.

When asked if he had decided to strike Iran more forcefully, President Trump stated he was still delaying a large-scale operation because Tehran was "getting serious" in negotiations with Washington.

"We are talking with them. I think they are getting more serious, perhaps for reasons everyone understands", he told reporters at the White House. The US President said he did not yet know what the "decisive point" would be, but reiterated the red line was when Iran approached building nuclear weapons.
