On 2/9, the Ukrainian navy reported neutralizing 7 Russian soldiers and injuring 4 others. They also sank a Russian Black Sea Fleet speedboat, preventing the landing party from reaching the Tendra sandbar in the northern Black Sea.
Video released by the Ukrainian military suggests the attack was carried out by a drone, although the announcement didn't specify the weaponry used.
The video shows Russian personnel approaching the speedboat to retrieve their comrades. Later, it shows Ukrainian forces striking Russian positions on the sandbar.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has not commented on the Tendra attacks.
The Tendra sandbar is a narrow strip of land off the coast of Kherson province, bordering a Russian-controlled area. It's approximately 65 km long and 1.8 km across at its widest point.
The strategically important sandbar is about 30 km from the port of Mykolaiv, the starting point of a Ukrainian maritime transport corridor designed to bypass the Russian naval blockade.
Ukraine has launched several raids on Tendra. In late July, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that special forces landed on the sandbar, destroyed Russian facilities, including radar and electronic warfare systems, and raised the Ukrainian flag without suffering any casualties.

Another GUR raid in 8/2024 destroyed several Russian armored vehicles, electronic warfare systems, and defensive positions on the sandbar.
This is the latest engagement in the Black Sea between Russia and Ukraine. Kyiv is maintaining pressure on Moscow's Black Sea Fleet to protect its maritime transport routes and limit Russian military activity in the region.
On 21/8, Ukrainian intelligence claimed to have sunk a Russian patrol boat near the town of Zaliznyi, killing 5 sailors. A week later, the Ukrainian military claimed to have damaged a Buyan-M-class missile corvette in the Sea of Azov near the Crimean peninsula.
