The US Secret Service announced on August 24 that it is investigating a video containing potential threats against individuals under its protection. "The US Secret Service is aware of the video and will investigate all content that could be considered a threat to those under protection," stated Nate Herring, a spokesperson for the agency.
The Secret Service's statement followed the broadcast last weekend by Iranian state television and media channels affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of a nearly three-minute video titled "Where to Assassinate Barron Trump?!"
The video included graphics simulating locations Barron, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump, frequently visits, such as Trump Tower in New York and a New York University dormitory. At the end of the video, a narrator suggested that many are "eagerly awaiting a USD 10 million reward."

This marks a rare instance of Iranian state media openly publishing a threatening message targeting President Trump's son. The reason why Barron, a 20-year-old student, has become a target for Iran remains unclear.
The US Secret Service declined to provide further details on the measures it is implementing to investigate the threat and protect Barron, citing the need to maintain operational secrecy.
A US government source commented to CNN that this video appears to be part of an Iranian media campaign designed to convey threatening messages towards both President Trump's family and him personally. US officials have also noted several other videos recently that detail the activities and itineraries of presidential family members, alongside rhetoric inciting their assassination.

Another video released in July by Tasnim, a news agency affiliated with the IRGC, also issued similar threats targeting First Lady Melania Trump. This video, narrated in Farsi with English subtitles, claimed that "Melania's obsession with fashion is also her biggest weakness," detailing several Manhattan stores she frequently visits. "These are suitable locations for global freedom fighters to act," a segment of the video stated.
Hardline Iranian media outlets have repeatedly posted threatening content targeting President Trump and his family since Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several family members died in a US-Israel airstrike on 28/2.
The US government has long warned that Iran might seek to assassinate President Trump. Most recently, in July, the US President secretly departed Air Force One, switching to a military aircraft to leave Turkey due to concerns about threats from Iran.
