Vietnam - Laos to soon realize strategic integration goals

General Secretary To Lam holds talks with lao general secretary and president Thongloun Sisoulith, agreeing to soon realize strategic integration goals and boost the integration of the two economies.

General Secretary To Lam and Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith held talks on the morning of 5/2 in Vientiane, following an official welcoming ceremony. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also attended, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the discussions, leaders of both nations achieved a high level of consensus, reaffirming the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. They committed to prioritizing and effectively implementing ongoing cooperation initiatives.

General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith agreed to innovate cooperation methods, enhancing quality and effectiveness. This approach aims for a closer link between strategic vision and concrete actions, while strengthening coordination between the two Parties and two countries.

The two sides will soon realize the goal of strategic integration. This comes as each Party implements new term Congress Resolutions and develops socio-economic development plans for the 2026-2030 period. They will also strengthen information exchange and experience sharing in implementing each Party's Congress Resolution.

Vietnam and Laos will boost the integration of their economies. They will prioritize resources, coordinate closely, and decisively implement strategic projects. This aims to create new momentum for economic, trade, and investment integration, as well as regional development, with a target of 10 billion USD in bilateral trade turnover in the coming period.

The leaders emphasized education, training, and human resource development, especially high-quality personnel, as a long-term strategic cooperation area. They will also strengthen cultural and people-to-people exchanges, particularly among the younger generation, to widely publicize the special tradition of Vietnam - Laos solidarity.

To ensure effective implementation, both countries will establish a government-level inspection and monitoring mechanism. This mechanism will review and evaluate cooperation results, promptly resolving any difficulties to keep projects on schedule and as agreed.

He described it as a strong political message, reflecting the highest level of trust between the two Parties and two countries, their rare solidarity, and the high regard of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam for the special Vietnam - Laos relationship.

Following the talks, General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith witnessed the signing of important cooperation documents. This included a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos for establishing a Vietnamese University in Laos. This initiative contributes to concretizing the strategic integration within bilateral cooperation.

The agreement to deepen "strategic integration" establishes a new framework, guiding cooperation into a more profound development phase. This phase will more closely link political vision with development interests, according to TTXVN.
