Mozambique, a nation in southeastern Africa, has an area of approximately 800,000 square kilometers and a population of over 34,6 million people. Vietnam and Mozambique established diplomatic relations on 25/6/1975, the same day Mozambique declared independence.
Since the beginning of the year, severe floods have submerged many communities in central and southern Mozambique. The United Nations reports that over 650,000 Mozambicans have been affected by heavy rains since 12/2025. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that approximately 100,000 people are currently sheltering in 99 temporary centers.
The natural disaster adds further pressure on a nation already facing difficulties due to conflict in the north, where over 300,000 people were displaced in the latter half of 2025, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
