According to information published in the US Federal Register on 9/12, this proposal will apply to travelers from 42 countries eligible for visa-free entry, including the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and Japan. Previously, travelers from these countries only needed to apply for an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) and provide basic personal information.

Under the new regulation, providing social media activity history will become a mandatory requirement for ESTA applications. Applicants will need to submit 5 years of social media usage history.
They must also provide additional data, such as phone numbers from the past 5 years, email addresses from the past 10 years, personal information of family members, and biometric data.
The US public has 60 days to respond to this proposal from its publication date in the Federal Register.
