With sales of approximately 7,35 million units in the first 4 months of 2026, industry giant Honda remains an unshakeable force in the global two-wheeler market. The second-ranked brand, Hero from India, recorded about 2 million units, which is only about 27% of the Japanese brand's sales, indicating a significant gap.
In 2025, Honda's global sales exceeded 20 million units, capturing approximately 40% of the market share. The Vietnam market consumed over 2,2 million units, contributing about 11% to Honda's total sales.
Japan has another brand in the top 5, Yamaha. However, its sales have shown slower growth in recent years. In the first 4 months of 2026, Yamaha sold approximately 1,7 million units, an increase of 4,6% compared to the same period in 2025. This created an opportunity for India's largest motorcycle manufacturer, Hero, to surpass Yamaha and claim the second position, driven by a 17,6% growth rate.
Despite primarily selling domestically, Hero and TVS, the fourth-ranked brand in global sales, remain among the top five best-selling brands. This is due to the consistently high demand for motorcycles in India, the world's most populous market, in recent years.
Yadea is the only motorcycle brand that exclusively sells electric vehicles and ranks 5th in global sales with approximately 1,36 million units. The Chinese manufacturer is gradually expanding into Southeast Asian countries, especially Vietnam and Indonesia, the two largest emerging motorcycle markets in the region.

Beyond the top five best-selling brands globally, Motorcycles Data also listed the remaining positions in the top 10, though without specific figures. The subsequent brands are: Bajaj (India), Suzuki (Japan), Royal Enfield (India), NIU (China), and Italika (Mexico).
VinFast, Vietnam's electric motorcycle manufacturer, ranked 13th. Motorcycles Data did not disclose specific sales figures for VinFast but noted that its sales grew the fastest globally, climbing from 53rd position in 2025 to 13th in the first 4 months of 2026. Compared to the same period in 2025, VinFast's sales increased by nearly 205%, or approximately three times.
In 2025, VinFast sold 406.453 vehicles in Vietnam, a record high since it began operations. The company recently produced its one millionth electric motorcycle since its first model, the Klara, rolled off the assembly line in 11/2018.
