Two pickup trucks ablaze after destructive test

After spending over 50,000 USD on repairs for his Tesla Cybertruck, a YouTuber crashed the electric pickup truck head-on into a Ford F-150.

The collision created a horrific scene as a fireball engulfed both vehicles. The Ford F-150's cabin separated from its chassis, and its body was completely deformed. The Cybertruck also sustained heavy damage, though its frame visually maintained its shape better than its competitor.

In a dramatic display, no one occupied either vehicle. Wearing FPV goggles, Detwiler remotely controlled the Tesla, sending it down a straight track to collide head-on with the stationary F-150 at 179 km/h.

YouTuber WhistlinDiesel, known for his videos destroying expensive vehicles, recently released the final installment of a three-part durability test series featuring the Tesla Cybertruck and the Ford F-150. After numerous rigorous off-road challenges, the two pickup trucks met their end in a high-speed collision.

This was not a standard, rigorous safety test. The production team modified the Cybertruck for remote control, using a mechanical system that directly manipulated its controls.

Both vehicles were subsequently transported to a scrapyard. Heavy excavators further dismantled the wreckage before pushing the remaining frames into an industrial shredder.

Before the final destructive test, the Tesla electric vehicle endured a challenging trip through the Moab desert. A module in its towing system detached, causing the Cybertruck to break down early in the journey. In contrast, the Ford F-150 continued to conquer off-road trails, even operating on three wheels before stopping due to a severed electrical wire.

Fire engulfed both vehicles immediately after the collision.

The Ford F-150's cabin separated from its chassis.

Cody Detwiler, the owner of WhistlinDiesel, stated that he spent 53,000 USD on repairs to keep the Cybertruck running throughout the series, despite its short travel distance. Consequently, vehicle preservation was not a concern for the final test.

Despite previously burning a Ferrari and transforming a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat into a boat, WhistlinDiesel declared the Ford F-150 the overall winner in terms of durability. His reasoning was straightforward: the Ford never required service throughout the testing process, whereas the Cybertruck returned to the dealership 6-7 times during the video series, which had an estimated total production cost exceeding 300,000 USD.
