Gernot Dollner, Audi's chief executive officer, announced the A2 e-tron project at the company's annual media conference. This new luxury electric family car, slated for a global debut this autumn, marks a significant step in the German luxury carmaker's electrification roadmap.
The A2 e-tron is positioned as more than a mere revival of a past name; it directly addresses customer demand for environmentally friendly transportation. With its compact design, optimized performance, and digital connectivity, the vehicle aims to attract young customers, technology enthusiasts, or first-time electric vehicle owners.

The small electric vehicle segment represents fertile ground in major European cities. By adding the A2 e-tron, Audi strengthens its product portfolio and aims to lower barriers to entering the luxury electric vehicle world.
While Audi has not yet disclosed technical specifications, the company revealed the first design sketch. Images suggest the A2 e-tron could be a small hatchback or crossover, inheriting Audi's characteristic design lines. Audi expects to produce the vehicle at the Ingolstadt plant, its center for developing and manufacturing strategic vehicle lines in Germany.
"The A2 e-tron is Audi's commitment to delivering efficient, compact, and confident mobility experiences. Audi will make accessing the electric vehicle world easier and more suitable," Gernot Dollner emphasized.
This launch is an important milestone for Audi to reassert its position in the global electric vehicle race, completing the brand's product range in the small car segment.
